Mandatory Paid Sick Leave gains momentum as it spreads to 24 states and local municipalities. Both buyers (companies) and suppliers of talent need to take heed. Oregon, California, and Massachusetts join Connecticut in requiring paid sick leave for employees at a state level, while the number of local municipalities continues to grow with the addition of Montgomery County, Maryland.
Complicating matters is the fact that while the laws are similar, they also have distinct differences. The bottom line is that employers of record—whether buyers or suppliers—must ensure they have the right systems and processes in place to ensure compliance.
This Fact Sheet looks at the different State and Local Paid Sick Leave laws (both their similarities and differences) and maps out the risks of noncompliance.
